DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING
– Herndon, VA
SUMMARY
Provide leadership and coordination
in administrative, accounting, and budgeting efforts in a government
contracting environment. Develop, establish, and implement short-
and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies (finance, accounting,
billing, and auditing procedures), and operating procedures (internal
control safeguards) according to corporate and local accounting guidelines.
JOB DUTIES
- Perform accounting and/or
be responsible for ensuring GL, AP, AR, invoicing, collections, payrolls,
monthly closing, audit preparation, tax assistance, and compliance are
in alignment with GAAP.
- Ensure quality reporting
and flow of data to business units and corporate headquarters is timely,
while providing consultative support to planning initiatives through
financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Support program managers
and their staff with financial management/guidance, contract compliance,
subcontract management, cost accruals, and revenue management.
- Ensure compliance with all
U.S. Government contract reporting requirements.
- Ensure regulatory compliance
by providing support in financial analysis, reporting of incurred costs
to ensure that they are in compliance with corporate policies and government
regulations, cost and budget reviews.
- Prepare indirect cost rates
and provide recommendations, and incurred cost submission to DCAA
- Produce annual budget and
analyze any deviations, as well as analyzing cost and profitability
projections.
- Ensure records systems are
maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards;
coordinate annual external audit of the financial statements.
- Performs other incidental
and related duties as required and assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of finance, accounting,
budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.
- Knowledge of federal and
state financial regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulations
(FARs) and Defense Acquisition Regulations (DARs).
- Ability to analyze financial
data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Working knowledge of Deltek
GCS as a user.
- Excellent communication
and customer service skills.
- Skill in operating personal
computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
- Skill in establishing and
maintaining cooperative working relationships with our management team,
employees, and clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education,
experience, skills)
- Bachelor degree in accounting
or finance, AND
- Seven (7) or more years
experience in accounting or finance, with 3 years as a high level finance
business partner involving government contracting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education,
experience, skills)
- Master of Business Administration
degree.
- Certified Public Accountant
(CPA).
